Our Dear Uncle Creighton passed away having enjoyed an interesting life for 94 years. The son of Charles Tong and Frances Lee, Creighton was born in Portland where he lived almost his entire life. His siblings Harry, Percy and Eloise passed on before him.
Creighton attended Atkinson and Benson High Schools. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and began his career as a postal clerk in the 1950's. He first sorted mail on rail road box cars and was issued a revolver to protect the mail from would be train robbers.
Always the provider for his family, he was grateful for 30 years of employment with the U.S. Postal Service. During his retirement, until his last days, he steadfastly maintained his independence. He greatly valued the benefits accrued to him from his membership in the Postal Employees Union.
Creighton had a good sense of humor, He enjoyed the many relationships he had with a large extended family and more recently the twice a year luncheons that brought together members of the "old timers" Chinese Community.
Creighton valued education,, was interested in the news of the day and the world around him He was a fan of local sports team, especially OSU, and above all worked hard to leave a legacy for those he love.

The family wishes to thank all those who took such good care of Creighton; Northwest Renal Clinic, The pharmacy at the Jefferson St. Safeway, Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and Hospice Services, and Mt. Tabor Senior Villa.
