Daniel Forrest Maggs

Sisters Nancy Holden, Patty Derryberry and Katey Taylor, Brother Jeff Maggs.

He attended Laurelhurst elementary school until the 8th grade and graduated from Washington High school where he played all sports and was a star baseball player. Danny attended Mt Hood community college and played on their baseball team as the closing left hand pitcher.

After college, Danny rode motocross for Milwaukie Suzuki for 3 years, racing at many tracks across the states.

On July 29th1978, Dan married Pam Maggs of Portland. They had two beautiful boys, Justin born in 1980 and Taylor born in 1987.

Danny’s love for cars took him to Gateway Volkswagen where he sold cars and became the finance manager for Ron Tonkin dealerships for over 10 years. His next adventure was working with Pam’s brother Bill Martens who was like his brother for the next 4 years remolding homes.

Danny’s love for sports never stopped, playing on adult teams and coaching his boys throughout their youth at Lakeside Little League and into High School. He never lost his love for motorcross, teaching his boys how to ride and race at a young age. Danny had a love for the Oregon Ducks, not a day went by that you did not see him wearing an Oregon Duck shirt, hat or sunglasses.

The family moved to Arizona in 1999, Dan loved the warm weather and sports so Az became the perfect place to live. Danny worked for Safeway while the family lived in Arizona. Having the love for Oregon the family moved back to Portland in 2004.

Danny was diagnosed in 2012 with Dementia. The family would like to thank “Cornerstone assisted Living Community” for all the love they gave to Danny.

Danny had a beautiful Granddaughter Aaliyah who he loved so much along with our daughter in law, Zulay who always made sure his hair looked good. Great nieces Mariah and Destiny who he loved to tease along with Summer and Shane Hart, Thanks for loving him.

There will be a private Celebration of Life for Danny at Pam’s home on July 30th with all his Friends and Family celebrating his life.
