Dezi Daniel Megyesi was born on February 1, 1932 in Bremen, Saskatchewan, Canada to John and Mary Megyesi. He was raised on a farm, and grew up to fully understand the meaning of hard work. In 1957, he emigrated to the United States.
On September 5, 1964, Dezi exchanged wedding vows with Elaine B. in San Jose, California. The couple raised one daughter, Heather.
Dezi worked as a soap manufacturer with Mt. Hood Chemical Corporation from 1961 to 1997, when he retired and began his second career as a greeter at Walmart. During his time with Walmart, he made many friends and became well-known within the community.

He was a lifelong member of the Woodstock Bible Church (affiliated with the Apostolic Christian Church.) He also loved his dogs, of which he had several over the years, most recently Whoopie, a loving and excitable dachshund, who he loved having close to him.
