

Donald Louis Ciffone, aged 90, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at his home. Born on January 24, 1934, in New York, New York, Don was the cherished son of Louis N. Ciffone and Genevieve L. Ciffone (Cuttitta).
Don lived a life marked by faith, service, and dedication. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, where his bravery and commitment were recognized with the prestigious Purple Heart for his selfless sacrifice. His time in the military exemplified his deep sense of duty and honor.
Don was a devoted family man, a loving husband, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found great joy in spending time with his family, sharing stories, and passing on lessons of faith and resilience. His role as a family patriarch was marked by wisdom, love, and a steadfast belief in the importance of togetherness.
A man of exceptional intellect and ambition, Don achieved remarkable academic accomplishments, earning two master’s degrees. He dedicated his career to pushing the boundaries of human ingenuity as an Aeronautical Engineer with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). His contributions to aerospace engineering left a lasting impact on the field and inspired those who worked alongside him.
Faith was the cornerstone of Don’s life. As a committed deacon in his church, he served with humility and devotion, offering guidance, encouragement, and spiritual leadership to his community. His unwavering belief in God and his commitment to serving others were a testament to his character and the values he held dear.
Don will be remembered as a man of integrity, a role model for his family and friends, and a beacon of faith and love. His wisdom, kindness, and selflessness touched the lives of all who knew him.
Don will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, with full military honors, a fitting tribute to a life of service and sacrifice.
He is survived by, his sons Donald Jr, Steve, and Michael; and his grandchildren Jacob, Danielle, Grant, and Katie; and his great-grand son Fox and his life partner Virginia Baldino all of whom carry forward his legacy of love and faith.
