Don died peacefully in his home at age 70. Born and raised in Greenwich, CT, Don travelled west to attend college at the University of Puget Sound where he graduated with honors in 1970. After graduation, he taught biology before turning to the building profession. He settled in Portland in 1974, where he in turn painted, remodeled, and inspected homes. He parlayed his decades of experience with homes into a successful business, eventually serving as President of the National Association of Home Inspectors. Don was a gifted, self-taught pianist. He loved meeting friends for conversation over coffee, enjoyed discussing world events and existential topics, and was an avid birder. Don is survived by his son Todd. Private services have been held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to UNICEF.
