De moved from Texas to Portland, Oregon in 1970. She attended Jefferson High School, in July 1994, she received her diploma from Western Business College.
She was a welder and forklift driver at Gunderson Marine and Ironworks and then worked as a technician for Western Box Food Distributors. She was also a volunteer driver for people with disabilities at Metropolitan Family Services.
De was stubborn and determined. She had perseverance. Her determination to keep going when things got tough was unmatched. She strived to live life to the fullest, even when she faced challenges and setbacks. Those traits, and God's will, brought her through many difficult times.
She was quiet and discerning. A true Pisces with twin flames, she was both open and shy. She was a self-proclaimed curmudgeon, but underneath was a calm, relaxed, and peaceful soul. She always jokingly said she'd much rather be around animals than people, but she fiercely loved her friends and family.
De loved old R&B artists and songs. She knew them all. Sometimes she would spend an entire day listening, and poorly belting out all the songs. De was also an excellent pool player. She represented the Cleo Lillian Social Club women's team and won first place in many tournaments.
