

Doug, born July 25, 1943 in Greenville, South Carolina was raised by Ralph and Harriet Janes with
sisters Jonie K Janes-Jacob, Candie Lynn Janes-Wiser, Christie Janes-Foster and Lisa Marie Janes-
McNabb.
Doug grew up in a military family that boasted a world wide education and exposure to many cultures while traveling outside of the States in multiple military bases.
For many years Doug was employed by the Portland Public School district as a school custodian. Doug attended college for Liberal Arts and enjoyed cooking, oil painting, gardening, music, writing short stories to share with friends and he especially enjoyed drafting.
Douglas proudly served during the Vietnam war in the United States Navy aboard the USS Henry B Wilson DDG-7 and was honorably discharged in 1966.
On October 23, 2004 Doug took Katherine Theresa Nakvasil of Portland, Oregon as his beloved Wife and friend. They spent their years together enjoying cooking and cultivating a beautiful yard of flowers and flowering shrubs.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Harriet and a brother Michael Janes. Doug is survived by his wife Katherine and sisters Jonie K Janes-Jacob, Candie Lynn Janes-Wiser, Christie Janes-Foster and Lisa Marie Janes-McNabb and by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 2310 SE 148" Ave., Portland Oregon with Father Niall O'Riordan officiating. Viewing at 8:45AM, Rosary will be at 9:30AM with Mass following at 10:00AM.
1:00 PM Burial at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland Oregon with luncheon following from 1:30 to 3:30 PM at Lincoln Memorial Park, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland Oregon, directly across the street from the Cemetery
