

He served in the United States Navy and worked as an electrical engineer in the Nuclear Power industry.
Douglas had many hobbies and talents. He enjoyed scuba diving, sailing, cycling and was an excellent photographer. Wherever he moved, he made it a point to join the local Coast Guard Auxiliary, of which he was always an active member. He became a Certified Dive Master in 1981 and was a lifetime NRA member. He also enjoyed astronomy, target shooting and traveling. Favorite adventures include a scuba diving trip in Bonaire, a sailing trip in Tahiti and a cycling trip in Scotland with his sister Janis. Douglas was a man who loved music, movies, good food, good wine and good friends.
Douglas was a man of adventure. He always had a great story to share. His siblings remember an old Navy tale where Douglas managed to “liberate” a Saudi flag from an embassy. They also remember how thoughtful he was. During their cycling trip in Scotland, Douglas made certain to arrive at the museum of their ancestral clan on Janis’s birthday, just to make the day extra special for her.
Douglas passed away on March 19, 2014 in Portland. He is survived by his siblings, Carol, Bruce and Janis; niece, Jennifer Robinson; nephew, David Robinson and partner, Leslie Wemhoff and her daughter, Staci.
Douglas will be remembered for his many talents, love of adventure and his great laugh. He lived a full, rich and happy life. His memory will be forever cherished.
