

Edmond "Edd" James Murrell, 79, died on April 6, 2026. He was a longtime resident of Gresham, Oregon. Born on August 16, 1946, in Portland, Oregon, he was the son of James and Patricia Murrell. He attended David Douglas High School.
Mr. Murrell was inducted into the United States Army on December 10, 1965, and served one tour in Vietnam before leaving active duty on September 21, 1967. His service was recognized with the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Sharpshooter Badge (rifle M-14), and the Combat Infantry Badge; all honors that reflect this period of his life marked by duty and courage.
In his working life, Edd drove fuel trucks, managed service stations, and served as caretaker and manager of a boat marina. He retired in 2012.
Edmond found deep enjoyment in the outdoors and the simple freedom it offered: boating, camping, hiking, visiting the beaches, and spending time outside whenever he could. He also enjoyed flying small (single engine) aircraft.
Like his father and grandfather before him, Edd was a lifetime member of the Freemasons.
He was divorced at the time of passing. He is survived by his son, James Murrell; daughter, Heather Murrell-Martin; granddaughter, Carlee Murrell; grandson, Johnny Dixon, granddaughter, Haleigh Murrell-Charriere, and great-grandchildren: Conner, Bentley, and Everett.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, June 5th at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home, followed by a committal service with honors at Willamette National Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oregon Dog Rescue, in honor of Edd’s love of dogs.
