2024, she was 92 years old.
Elaine was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on August 7, 1931 to Charles and Nellie Dingle.
They moved to Ellensburg, Washington in 1935 and then on to Corvallis, Oregon in 1945. She
graduated from Corvallis High School in 1949 and after high school Elaine attended Oregon
State University and received a degree in nursing. In 1954 she graduated from University of
Oregon Medical School - School of Nursing. She worked at several local hospitals and clinics
from 1954 - 1965. During her nursing career Elaine invented the Dingle Belt which was designed
to keep patients safe while in bed. She was acknowledged by OHSU for her contribution to
patient safety.
Elaine met Skip, the love of her life, in the fall of 1957 and they married in August of 1958.
They started a family the next year, eventually having four children. As a family they enjoyed
skiing, traveling, and they thoroughly enjoyed time at their beloved beach house.
In 1972 Elaine began working with Skip at NW Radio/URS Electronics. She was the credit
manager as well as office manager until her retirement in August of 1991. She worked hard with
Skip in building a successful business all while raising four children.
Elaine had many interests that kept her busy throughout her life. She loved crafting,
gardening, and cross stitching. She created many beautiful cross stitch pieces for family and
friends over the years. Through the years Elaine was active with Central Lutheran Church,
Camp Fire, and Alameda Tuesday Club. She enjoyed monthly luncheons with her former
nursing friends and classmates. She and Skip enjoyed traveling across the US and in Europe,
with train travel being a highlight.
Elaine was a supportive and loving mother and she adored being a Grandmother. She would
travel across the NW to spend time with her grandkids. Together with the grands she would
craft, read, and spend time at the beach spoiling the kids and showering them with her love.
Elaine was compassionate and warm hearted, her love and support knew no bounds. She was a
sweet, gentle soul and her loving presence will be missed.
Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Skip, her parents, and brother Bill Dingle. She is
survived by her two sisters, a sister in law, four children, their spouses, eight grandchildren and
