Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Murray

Elizabeth Ann Murray March 29, 1937 - September 11, 2014 Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Murray was born March 29, 1937, to Meryl Patton and John E. Hunter in Mayville, N.D., and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 11, 2014, in Portland, Oregon. Elizabeth grew up in Mayville, N.D., and earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from Mayville State University and Master’s degree in English from the University of Oregon. She married her husband of 57 years, Larry Murray, on June 6, 1957, and moved to Oregon in 1960 where she started a 30-year career teaching English and Business to Junior High and High School students, mostly in the Eugene area. Elizabeth raised three children and was happiest when surrounded by her family, playing games, traveling, relaxing at the beach, reading a good book, or conquering a difficult crossword puzzle. She was the rock, the glue, and the heart of our family. She will be loved and missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Elizabeth is survived by her husband Larry D. Murray, who resides in Portland, Oregon; son Mark Murray (wife Lind Gee) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughters Pamela Murray (partner Kim Freeman) and Kimberly Murray of Portland, Oregon; sister Mary Kay Odegard of Williston, N.D.; 6 nieces and 7 nephews, and granddaughter Peyton Elizabeth Priestman of Portland, Oregon.
