We are sad to announce the passing of Evangeline Tio Esposito of Happy Valley, Oregon on December 15, 2022. Evangeline, lovingly called Mary M by her friends and colleagues, passed away after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Her husband, William (Bill) Beeman was by her side.
Evangeline lived an incredible life as an entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Her experiences reflect her vibrant and bold soul, love of music, and philosophy towards a life that is God centered, with a passion to help those less fortunate. She was born January 3, 1957 in Nagbalaye Sta. Catalina, Philippines as the sixth of nine children to Alejo and Gregoria Canieso. She received her Bachelor's degree in nursing, and owned several small clinics that delivered care in rural areas.
Evangeline emigrated to the United States and settled in Southern California where she raised her three children, largely as a single mother. She often juggled multiple jobs to care for her family, and has held administrative positions in the Los Angeles County Superior court, was owner and operator of two Italian restaurants, and a clinical manager at a Physical Therapy facility.
She discovered a natural inclination towards entrepreneurship in her late 30s when she mobilized investors and medical providers, and started the Omega Center for Physical Therapy. First launched in Newport Beach, CA, the clinic provided physical therapy and wellness treatments, including chiropractic, acupuncture, medical massage, and other complementary therapies. She was ahead of her time in the application of alternative medicine to improve the health and wellbeing of others. She later expanded her reach with an additional clinic in Anaheim Hills, CA to great success. The Omega Centers met their demise as a result of recession arising from the dot com bubble burst.
Undeterred by economic circumstances, Evangeline embarked on a real estate, loan, and insurance sales career thereafter. It was around that time that she met the love of her life, Bill Beeman, on the dance floor of the Foxfire Restaurant in Anaheim. They loved to dance and laugh together, and shared a passion for business. They worked together in real estate as well as in their tech sales company, HDNLE. Bill and Evangeline later moved to Happy Valley, Oregon where Evangeline happily spent the rest of her days.
Evangeline’s enterprising spirit extends to her personal and spiritual life. In the past 14 years she has connected, inspired, and grown her tribe of close and kind friends in a mission of prayer and philanthropy. When she first met her dear friends Sarah Tongco and Long Espina, there was a sense of synchronicity and shared love for God. They came together and launched a Marian Devotion prayer group, where Evangeline held a speaking series under Mary M, and authored numerous spiritual books.
Later on, the group founded the Stop Poverty Foundation in 2014 with the purpose of meeting the challenges of communities worldwide by combating poverty and hunger, and empowering women, children, and the elderly. The Foundation continues to hold musical presentations and benefit concerts that raise money for resources to those in need.
Lastly, Evangeline took immense joy in the antics of her family, displaying both tough love and a large heart in equal measure. She is most proud of the way they made her laugh and their ongoing accomplishments, including Christine’s career in health communication and obtaining her PhD, April’s fortitude in coding and software engineering, Michael’s entrepreneurial efforts in his architectural design company, Christopher’s business savvy as manager of a Boba Tea enterprise, and Kenneth’s rise as division chief in army special operations.
Evangeline is preceded in death by her best friend and sister in heart, Sarah Tongco, and siblings Jessie Maio, Teresita Canieso, and Susan Canieso. Evangeline is survived by her husband, Bill Beeman, Children, DeAnne Christine Canieso, April Esposito, Michael Esposito, Kenneth Samples, Tyler Moss, grandchild, Christopher Tongko, sisters in heart, Leilanie Tumambing Gay, Carina Pinch, Myrna Maldonado, Long Espina, Cellini Luna, Beth Bidaure, Connie Groves, Majul Price, siblings, Milagros Fajardo, Bernadette Bunton, Charito Faustorillo, Jacqueline Pacion, Gilbert Canieso, and all the Marian Devotion members that have loved and respected her mission.
