Portland, Oregon to Alfred and Emma Trachsel. Her father was a minister and their family lived out on a farm in Southeast Portland. She was the youngest daughter and had 11 siblings (siblings names?).
Evelyn married her husband, Kenneth Miles and
had five wonderful daughters together, Connie, Marilyn, Karen, MaryAnn, and Sandra. Evelyn also had one son, Thomas. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren of which she adored as well as her great-grandchildren. She was loved by all and had a great sense of humor and tremendous love for her family.
Evelyn enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and helping with chores around the home. One of her favorite places to visit was the Oregon Coast, where she spent many trips with her family. She also had a special love for Country Music, her favorite being Willie Nelson. Throughout her life, she had several pets that she raised and loved. She was always an independent and strong woman that took care of her home and those around her.
In her later years, Evelyn was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She still continued to enjoy being around family and taking part on outings. Her natural ability to take care of others came through in that she started caring over her friends who suffered from Alzheimer’s.
During Evelyn’s last days, she was surrounded by family members day and night. She passed away on June 21, 2010 at 6:15am in the presence of her loved ones.
Arrangements under the direction of Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, Portland, OR.
