Born May 24, 1930 in Crete, Il, died January 24, 2014. Farol formerly resided primarily in Chicago Heights, IL. She was married to Robert E. Opie (1953-1979) and lived in Portland, OR from 1953-1958 before they moved back to Chicago Heights. Music consumed much of her life; she was a music major at Illinois State Normal University and studied with the Chicago Symphony’s principal oboist at that time. Farol also was a member of the Park Forest Singers, First Presbyterian and St. Paul Lutheran Church choirs. She enjoyed being a volunteer at St. James Hospital. Farol was preceded in death by her husband of nearly ten years, Walter L. Traglio and her parents, Frank and Fay Gast. Surviving are her son, Jeff (Brenda) Opie of Arlington Heights, IL; daughter, Kimberly Opie of Seahurst, WA, and sister, Barbara (Wilbur) Ward of Clinton, IL and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Farol’s passions were her family, friends, gardening, antique airplanes, trains, music and her grand-pets. Expressions of sympathy can be represented by planting a perennial in Farol’s honor, to ‘bloom and grow forever’.
