Florica (Popii) Rogoveanu was born July 9, 1955 in Cioroboreni, Romania to Ioan and Veta Popii. She was raised with two brothers, Vasile and Emil. Florica graduated from high school after receiving a full-ride scholarship for her excellent grades.
Florica became a Christian in 1973 when she was convinced that GOD had made a change in her father and brother's lives. They were the first Christians in their village. She was baptized in water soon after and received the baptism of the holy ghost in the winter of that same year.
Following school, Florica met George Rogoveanu. The two were married and had ten children: Daniel, Samuel, Emanuel, Maria, Lidia, David, Benjamin, George Joseph, Monica and John. They were also blessed with 14 grandchildren.
Florica enjoyed many things in life. She liked cooking and baking, gardening, collecting porcelain dolls, and collecting English tea cups. (As long as they were actually made in England!) Of all the things she loved in life, Florica especially cherished her family. She was always loving, caring, and above all, selfless. Even in her final days, Florica thought of her family's well being above her own. Fiercely independent and extremely modest, she fought until her last moments to take care of herself and not be a burden on those around her.
Florica went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2010 in the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Goodyear, Arizona following a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family who traveled great distances to be at her side. A funeral service will be at 3:00PM, Friday, August 27, 2010 in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lincoln Memorial Park. Florica is survived by her husband, mother, children, grandchildren, and brother, Emil. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vasile; father, Ioan; and one grandchild, Naomi Grace. She will forever be remembered for her immense strength, hard work, and gentle nature. The following scripture sums up the amazing woman that was Florica Rogoveanu:
"Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And her tongue is the law of kindness.
She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
'Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.'
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised."
Proverbs 31:25-30
