 Uncle Fred fillled his life and the lives of others with inspiration and examples of dreams come true...From cradle to grave ..  as a son,  brother, uncle, husband, father and friend he paved the way for so many, most often by example or through words spoken and unspoken...

 

My memories of tenderness and caring on Uncle Fred's part extend to my life as a toddler being raised  by extended family..Uncle Fred gently helping my mother (one of his older sisters) bring the sandman to to my eyes when I began to fret...hearing of the work ethic of the young barber who as a teen began his career as an entrepreneur...finding a collection of his paperbacks tucked in his parent's  piano stool that fueled my early desires to learn to read...beaming with pride as I read of Uncle Fred's service to his country in World War II as reported in the Cass County Registry of Men and Women Who Went abroad to fight..his picture in uniform prominent on the piano in his parent's house...finally getting to meet the love of his life and new wife..Aunt Velma..with whom we as a growing family shared many wonderful times...

 

The years would bring news of adventures in the world of medicine, the postal service and many other areas, with Uncle Fred always learning and sharing wisdom gleaned from each experience with those of us who followed..Especially proud were hia parents and siblings as he became an outstanding example of family man and entrepreneur . A devout Christian he would always remind us, his nieces and nephews of the perils of a wayward life..Even as the years advanced, I can recall conversations where Uncle Fred would admonish me to make sure that I took my cholesterol medicines and would give my husband a pep talk regarding his diabetes...always time to lend a shoulder...share a tidbit of advice..

 

I can recall especially a darkest hour when my mother, his sister Claudie B. fell victim to Alzheimers...Upon seeing us for the 1st time as we struggled..he simply embraced me and together we cried...no need for further words...I knew he understood and as always, was there for us. Uncle Fred,you will truly be missed. Claudiette and extended family, know that he is still with you forever - in your hearts.

Dear Cousins,
Uncle Fred was steadfast in his love for us and we--Anthony (Nell), Dorthelia, Theresa (Lenard) and I--are steadfast in our love for him and you guys.  We're thankful that his life was long and his suffering short.  He was such a blessing, and seemed to keep our mother and others more present with us.
Remember, Claudiette, to be mindful of your grief and your health.  He would not want you to suffer.  In fact, watch for him--when you least expect, he's likely to whisper or tap you on the shoulder to encourage you to laughter and lightness of heart.  Remember, Kaseen, you were there, and in his heart till the end.

My sympathy and prayers are with you, Claudiette and Kaseem.  I wish I was able to attend the services.  I will always remember the times we drove to Portland from Seattle to visit Uncle Fred, Aunt Velma,and you, and the times I returned to Portland and Seattle from Chicago and visited Uncle Fred.  I am so glad he knew The Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and is now having a reunion with your and my mother, as well as his parents, Jean, siblings, and other relatives who knew the Lord as their personal savior. Take comfort, dear cousins, in the fact that you will see your       father again soon, in the rapture.
