

Mr. Lavert was born to Robert and Lizzie LaVert in Bivins, Texas. He is preceded in death by three brothers; five sisters; his wife, Velma; and daughter, Velma Jean Kelly. Left to mourn are his daughter, Claudiette Cusick; son, Frederick Kaseen; two granddaughters; one grandson; and great-grandchildren. Fred served his country as a WWII landing in Normandy on D-Day. His all "Negro Company" of truck drivers were Critical support to Gen. Patton's in famous "Red Ball Express" war efforts. He was a retiree of 25 years with the U.S. Postal Service. A father and grandfather of the Highest order. His greatest joy was spent at Vancouver Ave. First Baptist Church, where as a lifelong member of 67 years, he served as a Trustee. Fulfilling his duties to God, family, Country and Community. Fred's imprints will be greatly missed. Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 23, from 10-8 p.m. at Ross Hollywood Chapel, 47th & Thompson St. Funeral Service, Wednesday, April 24, 2013 (11 a.m.) at Vancouver Ave. First Baptist Church, 3138 N.
