We are devastated to announce the loss of our precious daughter, Fredricka Siverts Cook (Fredi.) Fredi died January 1, 2025 at age 11 after an acute battle to recover from an injury, pneumonia and related complications.
Fredi had a rare disorder of the endocrine system called McCune Albright Syndrome. It necessitated ongoing medical treatments, labwork, medications and therapies. Through it all, Fredi was a tenacious fighter.
Fredi loved music and spent many hours improvising her own songs on her piano. Almost from birth she was a music connoisseur, preferring Count Basie, Basement Jaxx, 21 Pilots, and Depeche Mode. Her favorite movies were Sing and Trolls. She also loved camping, concerts, books and school. There was no place she would rather be than in the company of her schoolmates.
Fredi was born in Portland, Oregon on October 12, 2013, and lived in north Portland. She was a fifth grader at Sitton Elementary School. She is survived by her parents, Monte Cook and Wendie Siverts, her adoring older sibling Ray, doting grandparents Brian and Gladys Siverts, uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family. Her beloved grandmother Zita Cook preceded her in death in November of 2024.
Fredi was fierce, funny and a beautiful, bright star. Her smile and laugh would light up a room. She will be terribly missed by her family and all who loved her.
Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children and Sitton Elementary School were indispensable to Fredi’s growth and care. We would be honored by donations to any of these organizations in her memory.
