Garth proudly served in the United States Navy from July 18, 1960, to July 17, 1964, embodying the values of dedication and service. After his military tenure, he embarked on a successful 30-year career in construction, where his hardworking nature was evident to his colleagues and friends.
A graduate of Beaverton High School, Garth's lifelong love for learning and personal growth was apparent. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, and "tinkering around" with cars, activities that brought him great joy and relaxation.
Garth's personal life was marked by a profound and enduring love story with Sharon, whom he married on October 23, 1965, in Portland, Oregon. Their relationship began as childhood neighbors and flourished during his naval service through heartfelt letters. Celebrating 59 years of marriage, their life together was filled with shared moments and deep mutual respect. He is survived by his wife Sharon Walstead, daughter Laurel Fallick, and grandchildren Tyler and Cassadie Fallick, along with three great-grandchildren, Laila, Hope, and Wesley. Garth was preceded in death by his son, Gary Walstead and parents, Willard and Hilda Walstead.
