Gilbert passed away on Feb. 14th in Portland. During his childhood, Gilbert's family moved around a lot and as a result, he got to see a lot of places. The Grand Canyon remained Gilbert's favorite place. As a young adult, Gilbert's stepfather became the first Indian agent at Havasupi. Gilbert didn't have children of his own, but he loved family. He always enjoyed the company of his nieces and nephews. He also had a special bond with his cats, Boots and Cody. Other interests included western and military history. He was a proud member of the NRA and believed strongly in the right to bear arms. Gilbert is survived by his sister, June Rose and six nieces and nephews. A service will be held at Ross Hollywood Chapel on Tues. March 1st at 12pm followed by interment at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation.
