Obituary
Hannah Jo Warren Johnson was born April 9, 1915 in Linden, Texas. She was the 5th child of seven children born to Quitman A. and Laura Alexander Warren.
She attended Pleasant Hill Grade School, and Fairview High School. She attended college where upon finding she had a gift for doing hair she changed her major, and attended beauty school, Hannah became re-known for her gift of “doing any ones hair”. Hannah added the middle name Jo while attending school, because she “liked the flow of it”. Hannah Jo accepted Christ Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age and for many years attended the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, in Linden Texas. She was married to Thomas Rayner in Elizabethtown, SC, and from that union a daughter, Florence Ann Rayner was born. She preceded Hannah Jo in death in 1954. Hannah Jo then had the honor of having 2 more children, Myra F. Alexander and David R. Rayner, each still with us. In 1952, Hannah Jo met and married her final husband, Jessie B. Johnson. From that union, Ruby Jessiel and Anita Rozelle Johnson were born. All toll, Hannah Jo had the honor of being the Mother of 5 beautiful children. She retired from being a beautician in 1968, due to health issues, and became a domestic until her full retirement in 1989. Although retired, it should be noted that for many years, Hannah Jo kept her beautician license active! She would say,” you just never know when you may need it, and besides, I earned it”! It hung on her wall framed many years after her retirement.
Hannah Jo Johnson found Jehovah and became a witness to that find in 1958, in Los Angeles California. She has been a devoted witness for Jehovah ever since. Tireless in her effort to spread the good news of Jehovah’s kingdom, Hannah would attend meetings even when unable to physically be in the building, by listening over the phone. Her other passions were fishing, reading her bible, gardening and visiting her relatives. She loved to sit in front of her daughters shop in Portland, and witness to anyone that would listen while teaching the good news of the kingdom. She taught us all a lot from her faith in Jehovah, her dedication and strength, and that love is the greatest gift anyone can receive or give. She gave tirelessly of herself when possible. She served faithfully as a pioneer for Jehovah for over 55 yrs. We shall all miss her, but we are all better for having had her in our lives.
After celebrating her 96th year on this earth, Hannah Jo Warren Johnson was called home. She was preceded by her parents and siblings, two brothers, Quitman “Bill” and Henry A. Warren; four sisters, Belzoria Pruitt, Mary Peralina Byrd, Inez Batties, and Laurine Helen Lowrey. A daughter, Florence Ann Rayner, and a grandson, Daniel Rayner. Her husband, Jessie B. Johnson preceded her in 1987.
She is survived by and leaves her legacy to her 4 remaining children, Myra A. Faison, David A. Rayner, Ruby J. Wright and Anita R. Smith. Her 11 grandchildren, Dedrick L. Faison, David A. Bond, Byron T. Lewis, Eleza F. Faison- Jackson, Christine Rayner-Orantes, Elonja N. Payton-Barry, Florence Rayner-Parks, Jason D. Perry, Antoine L. Payton, Jasmyn R. Ephesians 3:14-21
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with might through his Spirit in the inner man, 17 and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.
