Harold completed 8 years at Catholic School and 2 years of public High School.
He lived in Bremerton and spent a lot of time exploring the mud flats of the bay.
In 1946 he joined the U.S. Army as a driver.
On July 3, 1947 he met Corrine L. Budke in Tacoma on a blind date.
They married on January 26, 1948 in Vancouver, WA.
They bought property in N.W. Portland and built a home in the hills.
Harold worked many odd jobs to support his family until hiring on at Oregon Steel Mills in 1954 where he worked for 35 years.
Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping with family and friends, horseback riding with his daughters, making wooden bowls on a lathe and making rocking chairs for grandchildren and tire horse swings to name a few. He always thought outside the box, was very creative and a good problem solver.
Harold is survived by the love of his life, his wife of over 67 years, Corrine, and his children; Harold Ricky and Darla Adams, Sarah and Bill Howze, Ellen and Pete Branderhorst, also 6 grandchildren; Troy, Jeremy and Shellie Adams, Sean Briggs, Shannon Howard, and Benjamin Branderhorst and their spouses, and 9 great-grandchildren; Emily, Nicholas, Ella, Angelica and Gabriella Adams, Addison and Mason Briggs, Natalie and Katelyn Howard.
Harold loved life. He worked hard, played hard, loved his family and friends and gave the best hugs. You always knew where you stood with him and he wasn’t shy about letting you know.
Please join us for a celebration of Harold’s life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Scappoose Grace Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Foundation Fighting Blindness or Alzheimers Association.
