Helen Barbara Barr

Helen was born August 4, 1934 to Fred and Mary Zweifel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She grew up in Wisconsin with her siblings Ruthie, Loretta, and the youngest Fred.

At age 17 she married Jerome Spaulding in Waukesha, Wisconsin. They would bring 5 beautiful children into the world: Ronald (1/2/1954-), Barbara (4/28/1952-), Michael (11/5/1955-7/30/2011), Judith (4/22/1960-4-22/1960), and Dennis (10/9/1961- 4/18/2022). Later, life brought them to Southern California where Jerome passed suddenly at the age of 38.

On December 29, 1971 Helen married her love of over 50 years Charles (Chuck) Barr. Together they had Charles (Charlie) (1/22/1973-). Chuck lived each day to provide Helen with a better tomorrow, and Helen lived each hour assuring he was happy each day.

Helen enjoyed boasting about and spending time with her children, their spouses, and the 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren that came from that love. Equally she loved the numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other family she was blessed with.

Helen took great pride in every house she called home, keeping them meticulously clean and beautifully decorated. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and friends.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Helen. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in the simple things while also loving the elegant and beautiful things such as her extensive doll collection.

Although she was so tiny and frail, she gave us all such courage and hope, reminding us of the preciousness of life and the love that can be found in family and friends.
