He was born on July 30, 1937, in Tempe, Arizona, to Lester and Elma Crow of Archie, Missouri. Following the passing of his mother, Elma, DeWayne was lovingly adopted by Earl and Lois Osborn of Stockton, California, who became an important part of his life and upbringing.
Dewayne pursued higher education at several institutions, including Stockton College, Stockton, California, Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, and San Jose State University in San Jose, California, before earning his bachelor’s degree from San Jose University in San Jose, California. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1961, stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.
While in El Paso, Dewayne met the love of his life, YVette Newman. They were married on December 7, 1959, at Lebanon Baptist Church in El Paso. Together, they shared 66 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and steadfast faith, facing life’s challenges hand in hand with God at the center of their journey.
Dewayne enjoyed a successful career in high-tech management, working for companies including IBM and Memorex in California, and Floating-Point Systems in Oregon. He was widely admired for his inventive mind, even-keeled nature, gentle spirit, and quiet strength. His deep and abiding faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, guided him throughout his life. He was also known for his dry, witty sense of humor and his favorite saying, “Ditto Kiddo,” which brought smiles to those who knew him best.
Dewayne is survived by his beloved wife, YVette Osborn; his cousin, Karen Crow; his foster brother, Jeffery Osborn, his wife Dana; and his brother- and sister-in-law, Tex and Mary Newman.
