Janis Myers Roise was born on May 21, 1947, in Portland, Oregon, the second of seven children born to Rose and John Myers. She grew up in Southeast Portland and attended St. Mary’s Academy in Downtown Portland, forming friendships and values that shaped her lifelong devotion to family, faith, and community.
Janis married the love of her life, Larry Roise, on February 23, 1968. Together they made their home near Mt. Tabor, where they lovingly raised their three children. A devoted sports fan, Janis rarely missed a game. She and Larry enthusiastically attended their children’s many sporting events and shared Portland Trail Blazers season tickets for years—cheering loudly and passionately from the stands.
Faith was the foundation of Janis’s life. She joined St. Stephen’s Parish in 1970 and remained an active and dedicated member for nearly five decades. She served the parish in many ways, always willing to volunteer, support, and uplift others.
Janis cherished community throughout her adult life. She was active in sorority life, where she found friendship, laughter, and camaraderie among her fellow members. She was also a proud member of the Gateway Elkettes, contributing her time and energy to their charitable efforts.
Above all, Janis treasured her family. She delighted in every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her home and heart were always open.
In June of 2024, Janis began to lose her ability to speak—a painful challenge for someone known for her warmth, conversation, and gift for connection. She was eventually diagnosed with ALS, a disease she faced with courage and grace. Janis passed away on December 8, 2025, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed.
Janis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry. She is survived by her children: Lawrence Roise; Shelly Leritz and her husband, Scott; and Amy Constanza and her husband, William. She leaves behind her grandchildren—Mason, Isa, and Devondra and her husband, Frankie—as well as her great-grandchild, Huey. She is also survived by her siblings: John Myers and his wife, Karen; Jeff Myers; Judy Beck; and Joe Myers; along with their children.
Janis’s family and friends will forever remember her caring spirit, her devotion to others, and the joy she brought to every life she touched.
