Joanne A. Slette Vaughn

Joanne A. Vaughn was born April 18, 1945 in Bremerton, Washington to Viola Annetta Boothe Slette and Hans Oliver Slette. As an infant, she moved with her family to Concord, California where she lived until she was fourteen. That year the family moved to Vernonia, Oregon, where Joanne graduated from high school and lived until she married Richard L. Vaughn. This took place February 28, 1965 at Forest Grove Christian Church. They spent the next forty-seven years together. During that time Joanne busied herself with raising a family and other joys; gardening, art and helping to found the Northwest Animal Companions animal rescue agency. She served as president of this group. She passed away July 7, 2012 at her home in Beaverton, Oregon. Joanne has been re-united with her parents, her daughter Nikki Mashell Vaughn and other family who predeceased her, but she will be missed by her husband Richard; her daughter Cristi Rae Playford and her husband Mike, and her granddaughters Alix Mashell Playford, Tayler Rae Playford and Daryen Paige Playford. Her Memorial Service will be Friday July 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. She will be privately placed in Skyline Memorial Gardens.
