Joe Hayes Ruth

Joe Hayes Ruth passed away on June 6, 2014. Joe was born in Mystic, Iowa on December 28, 1929 to Joe Sr. and Doris Ruth. Joe was raised and went to school in Unionville Missouri. He graduated school in Unionville and then his family moved to the Portland, Oregon area. Joined joined the United States Air Force in October 1950. He served 4 years during the Korean War and received an Honorable Discharge in 1954.

Joe went to work for The Corp of Engineers, where he met Kathleen Garvin. They were married on February 29, 1964 in Portland, Oregon. Joe loved sports of all kind. He grew up playing baseball and his favorite team was the St Louis Cardinals, the sport he most loved was bowling and Joe was a pretty good bowler. he also liked, pool, ping-pong and later became a Portland Trailblazer fan during the 1980's.

Those who know Joe, would say he was a great husband, dad and grandfather. He loved his family moist of all and enjoyed walking, biking and vacationing with his wife. Joe was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife Kathleen Ruth of Portland, Oregon, daughters, DeAnn Ruth (Paul), Brandt Cory Ruth Lumber, Kelley Ruth (Adam) Sprague and Leslie Ruth (Richard).
