Joie Deniece Anderson was born on October 23, 1960 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Wally and JoAnn Anderson. Joie attended Krebs Elementary school in Krebs, Oklahoma through 8th grade, followed by McAlester High in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Joie was quiet and timid as a child. Because of this, she established a strong bond with her grandmother. The two were inseparable, which caused her siblings to make fun that she was the obvious favorite. Joie also had a passion for water and swimming (a love that she passed to her children through endless childhood memories at the lake). Jeff Lee pool is where she would eventually meet the love of her life, Jeffrey Jessie. It is said that her true personality did not emerge until then.
In 1978, Joie moved from McAlester, Oklahoma to Portland, Oregon. She was accompanied by her love and their two young daughters, Donita LaShay and Latoya Falana. Later, they would go on to have 3 more girls: Cheryl Renee, Elizabeth JoAnn and Michelle Levan, all born in Oregon. Although she only birthed 5, Joie was a nurturer and mother to all. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms, never leaving a child to feel unwanted. Her cooking, good humor and spicy personality will be missed by many; Joie was truly one of a kind!
On May 19, 2024, Joie was called home to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, JoAnn Thompson Anderson and Wally Anderson, the love of her life and father of her children, Jeffrey Charles Jessie Sr., and her brothers, Walter Byron Anderson, Wally Raphael Anderson, Ervan Clay Johnson and her great-granddaughter, Naomi Wells.
Joie leaves a beautiful legacy that will carry on through the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grands, nieces and nephews as well as her siblings, Terri Anderson, Robi Anderson, Micha Anderson, Wilma Anderson, Ida Jessie, Terrence Jessie and Cynthia Jessie.
