Joseph James Buxton Sr.

He was born in a log cabin 100 miles northwest of Calgary, Alberta, Joseph was one of four children. He married Ada Saxby June 27, 1935. They were married for 60 years. Joseph worked as a salesman for J.H. Ashdown Hardware Co., in Calgary; Marshall Wells Co., in Vancouver B.C.; and Coast to Coast Stores Central Oregon Inc. in Portland, OR. He retired in 1974. Before his passing he most recently resided in Wilsonville and Gresham. Joseph was a member of the United Commercial Travelers of America for 70+ years, The Northwest Commercial Travelers Association for 69+ years and a member and past master of Washington Masonic Lodge #46 for 50 + years. Joseph is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Charline and Les Arent of Warner Robins, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kim Buxton, of Gresham; grandchildren, Shanyn and Rob Humphry of Warner Robins; Charles and his wife, Cyndie Arent of Boston, Va.; and Joseph Buxton; four great grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and a lifetime of friends. Services will be noon Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, in Ross Hollywood Chapel, Portland, Oregon. Private entombment will be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society.
