Joyce Winifred Green was born just outside Eugene, Oregon on November 3rd, 1922 to Lloyd and Fannie Moothhart. Her family moved to Wishram, Washington in 1926. She had 2 sisters, Edith and Gladys and 3 brothers Harvey, John and Gerald. She grew up loving her small town of Wishram and could always be found climbing rocks and enjoying the outdoors every chance she got. She graduated Wishram High School in 1939.
She married Tommy Wagoner and moved to San Francisco and there she welcomed the birth of her sons Michael and Dennis. While in San Francisco she worked as a secretary for the FBI and assisted on many of their cases. She divorced from Tommy and then started corresponding with William Green, an old flame from high school and her one true love.
She moved back to Portland to be with William and they were married on February 25th, 1946. They welcomed the birth of their daughter Patricia in 1947. Joyce loved being a homemaker and you could find her in her garden most days. In the 1960’s she was able to have her own counter in Newberry’s downtown where she made and sold jewelry. The family expanded with the birth of several grandchildren.
In 1985, she said goodbye to the love of her life after losing William to congestive heart failure. This loss helped her to find comfort in the Lord. She grew in her relationship with Christ and became very active in her church and was baptized on July 10th, 1994. She later went on to enjoy cleaning her church twice a week until she was 86 years old.
In 2001 she was able to take the trip of a lifetime to the Holy Land and toured Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Rome. She had said that it was the most amazing thing she had ever experienced and it was truly her dream vacation that gave her cherished memories to the end. And she always liked to brag that she was the oldest one on the trip, but was still able to hike several miles every day.
She loved to sew, garden, create ceramics and jewelry. She was an avid fan of the Trail Blazers and was a lifelong fan to the end. She enjoyed (as we all know) her doll collection and enjoyed nothing more than finding a good garage sale.
She loved her family with all her heart and felt such pride for each and every one of them. She is survived by her youngest brother Gerald and his partner Jake, her 3 children Michael and his wife Lonnie, Dennis and his wife Holli and Patricia and her husband Ron. 6 Grandchildren William, Patricia, Dennis Jr., Bobby, BreAnn and Brian and 17 Great grandchildren Aren, Rikki, Katie, Brayden, Dominique, Jashar, Isia, Irayah, Shaely, Kaitlyn, Maci, Taylor, Chris, Ryan, Taylor, Connor and Kaitlyn. She will be interred next to the love of her life, William, in the Willamette National cemetery.
