With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Judith Ann Gerard on February 3, 2025, in Portland, Oregon. Judy was the eldest of five siblings and carried the warmth and wisdom of an older sister throughout her life.
Judy was a devoted wife, sharing 43 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering companionship. As a mother, she was the heart and soul of her family, raising three daughters who were her greatest pride and joy. Her love extended to her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored beyond measure.
A woman of grace and kindness, Judy had a deep appreciation for the simple yet beautiful things in life. She found solace in her garden, where she nurtured vibrant flowers and plants with the same love she gave to her family. A true New Englander at heart, she never passed up a good bowl of clam chowder and carried fond memories of family ski trips growing up.
Judy’s love for music was ever-present in her life. Whether it was playing an instrument in middle school, singing in the church choir, or attending concerts, she found great joy in the melodies and harmonies that surrounded her. Music was a source of comfort and connection, a reflection of her deep and soulful spirit.
She had a lifelong love of reading, cooking, and spending time by the ocean, where the rhythm of the waves always brought her peace. Her home was always warm and welcoming, filled with the aroma of home-cooked meals and the companionship of beloved dogs. Her kindness and gentle spirit made her a cherished friend, and the friendships she built over the years were a testament to her loving nature.
Portland, Oregon, became a place she deeply loved, drawn to its natural beauty and the life she built there. She will be remembered for her sweet and giving soul, her beautiful heart, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Judy’s legacy of love, family, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit remains woven into the lives of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by spending time with loved ones, enjoying a good book, or taking a walk by the beach—just as she would have loved.
