Katharine "Katie" Adkins Rudfelt, age 91, of Portland, Oregon passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Katie was born June 9, 1930 to Frank Joseph Sr. and Henry Taylor in Tacoma, Washington. The family moved to Portland that same year.
Katie graduated from Holy Child Academy in Portland and went on to graduate from St. Mary's of the Wasatch College in Salt Lake City, Utah and received her Masters from Oregon State University. After receiving her Masters, Katie taught biology at Milwaukie High School for the rest of her teaching career and retired in 1995.
Katie met Jack Rudfelt while they were both teaching at Milwaukie High and married in 1969 in Pony, Montana. They were married for 6 years before Jack's death.
Katie loved her family, friends, biology, art and sports (participating and watching). She also loved spending every summer in Pony, Montana with her beloved Aunt Katharine. Katie was known for her wit, zest for life and making an impact on every one who knew her.
Katie was preceded in death by her spouse Jack Rudfelt; her brother Frank Michael Joseph Jr..
Katie is survived by her two nephews, Brian Taylor Joseph (Michelle) of Sandy and Frank Joseph, III (Teresa) of Millersberg; 4 grand nieces and nephews and 8 great grand nieces and nephews.
Weather permitting, a funeral mass for Katie will be held Wednesday, January, 5th 2022 from 11am to 12pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3910 SE 11th Avenue, Portland, OR 97202.
