Katherine Marie Nolan-Krug, a cherished wife, mother, Nana, and friend, passed away on December 26, 2024, surrounded by love. Born on January 3, 1963, in Springfield, Oregon, Katherine lived a life filled with warmth, wisdom, and humor that touched everyone who knew her.
Katherine’s greatest joy was her family. She was married to her husband Bruce for 44 years, during which they built a home filled with love, laughter, and endless support. As the proud mother of five children, Katherine created a world where compassion, resilience, and togetherness were at the heart of everything. Her grandchildren and great-grandchild were the light of her life, and her face lit up whenever she talked about them.
Katherine’s passions were simple yet deeply meaningful. She loved spending afternoons thrifting at Goodwill, snuggling with her cats, or curling up with a good book. She was endlessly clever and empathetic, always ready to share a witty remark or a nugget of wisdom. Katherine had an uncanny ability to make every person in her life feel seen and valued.
After raising her five children, Katherine returned to school at Portland State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Social Science and Pre-Nursing. Her professional career as an advocate for individuals with disabilities reflected her generous spirit. However, Katherine’s true calling was her family. Every holiday, birthday, and ordinary day spent together was a testament to her unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Katherine was preceded in death by her daughter, Rachel Krug, and her mother, Jeanne Nolan. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with them, likely sharing hugs, laughter, and stories.
She is survived by her husband Bruce of Hillsboro; her children and their spouses: Susannah Krug (John) of North Plains, Aaron Krug (Anesa) of Pflugerville, TX, Angel Hughes (Jeffrey) of Cordova, TN, and Rebekah Long (Jesse) of Hillsboro; her eleven grandchildren: Kaitlin, Damien, Jordan, Howie, Charlie, Clara, Wyatt, Dylan, Kellan, Wesley, and Annabelle; her great-grandchild, Taela; and countless friends who will forever remember her warmth, humor, and wisdom.
A celebration of Katherine’s incredible life is planned for the summer. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in sharing memories, laughter, and love.
Mama, thank you for the endless joy, the lessons, and the love you gave us. We will carry your spirit in our hearts always. Rest easy—you’ve earned it.
