With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Kayomars Modjtabai, who left this world peacefully on Monday night. He was a man defined by warmth, generosity, and an endless capacity for joy. To know him was to feel welcomed, whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or someone he had just met.
He lived for the beauty of connection. His happiest days were spent surrounded by plenty of people, music playing, laughter filling the room, a glass of wine or whiskey in hand, and a deck of cards or backgammon on the table. He loved a good party, loved to dance, and loved bringing people together. He created a world where everyone felt at home.
A lifelong lover of literature, he read constantly and cherished poetry. He could recite poems hours long from memory, delivering each line with passion and pride. His voice, his stories, and his poems were gifts he shared with all of us.
Above all else, he was devoted to his family. He was a cherished father, brother, son, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend — the anchor of our family and the heart of every gathering. His kindness, humor, and spirit will live on in every one of us.
We will forever remember him for the warmth in his smile, the sparkle in his eyes, and the love he gave so freely. We are so happy that he finally gets to be with the love of his life, Molook, after 30 years.
May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing.
