Ken was born December 26, 1945 in Vancouver, Washington to Ivan and Myra (Kirking) Hathaway. He was a graduate of Western Washington University and worked for finance company Cummins Allison for 37 years as a service and branch manager.
On December 31, 1982, he married Shirley Gaspro, and they remained together for the rest of Ken's life.
Ken served his country honorably in the US Air Force. He enjoyed woodworking and other craft projects and was very handy at everything he tried. He will be remembered as a kind, loving man, never having a bad word to say about anyone, and with a great sense of humor, but most of all he will be missed as a great husband, father, and friend.
Mr. Hathaway is survived by his wife of over 43 years, Shirley Hathaway; their son Sean and daughter Babette; brother Mike Krogh and sister Janette Krogh; and by grandchildren Stella, James, Spencer, and Sawyer.
A committal service with full military honors will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd. in Portland, with guests advised to arrive no later than 10:45 am in order to be led into the cemetery.
