

He was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Lon and Vivian Sanders. The family moved to Portland in 1959, where he attended Roosevelt High School before studying at Portland State University, obtaining a master's degree in science.
After serving in the infantry in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star, he was a professor of anatomy and microbiology at Portland Community College for many years. Larry is remembered by countless students for his caring influence.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ly (Phan Gian Anh Truc); brother, Clayton (Kim Anh); sister, Lynne (Patrick); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Zeller Chapel of the Roses, 2107 NE Broadway St, Portland, OR 97232, on May 18, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Zeller Chapel of the Roses, 2107 NE Broadway St, Portland, OR 97232, on May 19, 2026, at 10:00 am. Followed by a reception.
Committal with Military Honors will follow at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Happy Valley, OR 97086, on May 19, 2026, at 1:00 pm sharp.
