

Lois Mae Smith was born in Superior, Wisconsin on July 24, 1927 to Merton and Minnie (Anderson) Smith. After graduating high school, she married Steve Ladich and they moved to Seattle, Washington where her three sisters lived (Beverly, Elaine, Lilah). Steve worked for American Can Co. and Lois worked as a waitress. While living in Seattle, they had two children, Ginger Lee and Michael Joseph. They later moved to Portland, Oregon where Steve continued as a lithographer for Continental Can Co. Lois enrolled and graduated from Portland State College. She became an elementary teacher in the Parkrose District. Lois was a charter member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church. She loved to sing in the church choir, loved reading, playing board games and arts and crafts. She was member of the Rivergate Stompers Square Dance Group.
Survivors include her son, Michael and daughter, Ginger, a sister, Lilah “Lige” Brown. Her husband, Steve died on October 19, 2007.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1700 NE 132nd Ave., Portland, OR.
