Louann was born October 26, 1946, in Flint, Michigan, the eldest daughter of the late Edith and Scott Grandy. Throughout her childhood she lived in many different cities, moving with her family for her father´s job at General Motors. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated with a sociology degree in 1968 and later earned her associates degree in video production in 1986 from Mt. Hood Community College. She worked at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance, earning her CLU in 1973, and at Intel in Employee Relations. She was an active volunteer for organizations such as the Junior League, the Girl Scouts, Master Gardener and Master Recycler programs, and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children.
Her upbringing and life experiences shaped her adventurous spirit and determination. She was a strong, independent woman who always fought for what she wanted, and never accepted that there was something she couldn't do. Her nature was to always be positive and bring light and laughter to those around her. She enjoyed and looked forward to every social engagement, making friends wherever she went, going out and being the life of the party. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a mother-in-law, an aunt, a grandmother, a great-aunt and a friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Joel Metzger; her daughter and son-in-law, Erika and Hugo Nava; her son and daughter-in-law, Colin and Erika Denman; her grandchildren, Tayen, Suyana, Sienna and Lillian; her sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Fred Massar; her sister, Nancy Teske; and her nieces and nephews, Travis Massar, Lindsay Short, Scott Teske, John Teske, Kate Newmyer, Rebecca Metzger and their families.
A Celebration of Louann´s Life will be held November 25th at 4pm at the Portland Yacht Club with a reception to follow. She will be put to rest next to her parents in the Finley-Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
