Mary was born in Goldfield, Iowa January 16, 1928 and passed away in Portland on April 14, 2012. She got her B.A. at the University of Northern Iowa and her Masters at the University of Oregon. A lifelong educator, Mary worked in several schools in the area including Douglas High School in Dillard from 1953-1954 and Portland Public Schools: Jefferson, Washington and Madison High School from 1954-1981. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; brother, Russell; sister, Josephine Matthew; and infant sister, Inez. She is survived by nephews and niece, Russell (Maureen) Oviatt, Nancy (Kirk) Bradley and Bruce (Liz) Matthew. Services will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at Ross Hollywood Chapel, 4733 NE Thompson St, Portland.
