Mary Gaynor Malarkey-Flannagan

A native of West Portland, Mary Gay attended St. Thomas More Catholic School, St. Mary's Academy, and graduated from Portland State University.

She had many interests throughout her life including gardening and tennis. She was a life member of the Multnomah Athletic Club, a marathon runner, and a member of the Mazamas.

Mary Gay had a wide span of work experience but coveted two positions in particular, librarian for the University of Oregon Medical School and traveling the state as an audiometrist.

She met her husband Iain, through mutual friends in Portland. They enjoyed extensive traveling to Europe, Mexico and the Oregon Coast. They married in 2001 and settled in the Laurelhurst neighborhood.

Mary Gay was preceded in death by her parents, Benedict and Marialice Malarkey and her brother, Charlie. She is survived by her sister, Janie Malarkey Harmon, her nieces, Brie Malarkey and Jenna Hill, and by her husband, Iain JA Flannagan.

A private memorial will be held in her honor. Remembrance donations can be made to St. Mary's Academy in her name.
