

She married Norihisa Jack Okada in 1940. Because of the war her family voluntarily moved to Utah in 1942 and did not have to live in the relocation camps. After the war they eventually moved to Oregon where she and Jack raised three children in Clackamas They later moved to Tualatin and after they retired were very active hiking, biking, and traveling. Maxine was also an avid gardener
Her husband Jack died in 2007, two days after his 95th birthday. Maxine moved to a retirement community in Happy Valley where she was known as a very cheerful and very active person, always ready to join the fun. After several falls she moved to an assisted living facility in Wilsonville where she died peacefully on May 22, 2016, at 98.
She is survived by one sister (Ume Kita, Los Angeles), three children (Justin Okada, Los Angeles; Joy Price, Weed, California, and Grace Okada, Hudson’s Hope, B.C., Canada) and many nieces and nephews.
She lived a long and eventful life, and will be remembered for her smiling face and quick step.
