

Michael Lee “Mike” Bowers passed away September 14, 2024 after a short illness, in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 77. Born Christmas Day in 1946 in Akron, Ohio, Mike led a life marked by dedication, service and passion.
Mike served in the US Navy during a pivotal time, stationed aboard the USS Constitution and USS Bonhomme Richard in the Gulf Of Tonkin. His role in the intelligence units was a testament to his sharp mind and steadfast patriotisim. After his military service, he had a myriad of jobs and eventually retired as an administrative employee of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.
Educationally, Mike was well rounded having attended Otterbein, Ohio State University, New York University and Syracuse, reflecting his lifelong commitment to learning and growth.
Mike was deeply passionate about the arts and hobbies. He was an avid pianist, enjoyed musical theatre and had a keen eye for antiques. His culinary skills brought joy to many gatherings, further showcasing his multifaceted talents.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Caroline “Polly” Bowers. He is survived by his brother, Hal Bowers Esq. and sister-in-law Lucy, their children Dr. Haley Bittner (Andy and grandchildren Beau and Max), Grace Bowers and Troy Bowers (Lizzie); and his sister Carolyn Blake and her children Joe Hanla and son Ryan, Corrie McArthur and children Mirranda, Hayden, and Kendall, and Lindsay Frye (Mitch) and children Shane and Nash.
The Family wishes to thank Mike’s friend Tony Williamson, as well has his neighbors Taylor and Brittany that kept an eye out for him.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, cremation has already occurred and no services are planned at this time. A Celebration Of Life will take place in the future TBA.
