Miss my larger than life brother Mike, the Bibles I found are my hope that the Lord Blessed his harder and short life.

When Andrea and I first started dating it was Mike, with his unique sense of humor, that kept the atmosphere from getting too stuffy or uncomfortable. You couldn't help but laugh at the weird things Mike would point out as humorous, especially when he started to laugh. Andrea would blush and we would laugh even more.
The last time I talked with Mike I thought I was being encouraging by telling him he should put all his pain behind and start working toward a new life. He wasn't ready! So rather than being a burden to anyone he left, and we didn't see him again for many, many years.
If I had it all to do over again I think I would be more like Mike. Simply giving grace and helping him to feel as comfortable as possible while God put him back together again.
Thank you Mike. I'm grateful to have known you.


I may not have been his "niece by blood" - but Uncle Mike never treated me any less different. 
I remember when I was little - when ever I would see him and want to talk to him; I would always start by saying: "Uncle Mike..." (probably super quietly too; I was a shy kid) 
He would look at me and ALWAYS reply: "Niece Cassie...". Every time!! Lol. 

My heart aches for his family. I pray the hurt becomes less and less over time for you all.

Who can claim to know the heart or mind of another.   Our interpretation and perspective are the truest marks of who we are, may we never assume to know another.  

Too often we know the words but learn the lesson too late.  “Love your neighbor as yourself” and “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.  Even as we try and hope we have done the best we can; did we for that person.  We never know unless they can tell us and sometimes they don’t know themselves.  It’s normal to second guess, to think ‘if only’, to replay the archives in our mind, but do we even remember correctly.  The best choice is peace. 

Most Memorable ~ Mike’s birthday is also his son’s of April 8th, his laugh, his smile, his quiet presence even now.  

Thank you Rodney for offering Mike a place to stay, for understanding the most basic needs we all have & to be needed.  Thank you for being there when we couldn’t, your kindness will not be forgotten.  

We settle for Memorials when we should have Celebrations of Life before family are gone.

We never know the last time we will see another or those closest to us. 
Always walk them to the door and make sure they know you care, that you will listen and always be there.
