

Our warm-hearted, devoted and perfectly loved father Michael Hawley Jenkins returned to his heavenly home to be with his Heavenly Father, his Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. On October 26, 2022, Michael passed away serenely with his loving wife Janet Lea Jenkins at his side.
Michael was born on January 5, 1936 at The Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. He was one of three children. Michael was preceded in death by his youngest daughter Wendi Jenkins (Portland, Oregon) in 1989 and his half-sister Marilee Freeman (Fallbrook, California) in 2008. He is survived by his wife of 28 years Janet Lea Jenkins (LaGrande, Oregon) and previous wife of 35 years JoAnn Frost (Lake Oswego, Oregon), his younger half-sister Deidra (Gold Beach, Oregon), his eldest and middle daughters Kirsten Jenkins (Portland, Oregon) and Lori Jenkins (Camas, Washington). He was also preceded in death by his stepson Jeffrey (Baxter) and is survived by stepson Greg (Baxter), stepdaughters Linda (Nusser), Angela (Schow); grandchildren Brittny, Eric, Kevin, Alexandra, Ian, Aidan, Kendall, Brock, Andrew, Lisa, Daniel, Kimberly and Jace; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Michael attended Jefferson Highschool in Portland, Oregon graduating class of 1953. His undergrad studies were completed at UCLA and University of Oregon from 1953-1957. Michael attended Oregon Health Science University Medical School; graduate 1962 a scholarly Board-Certified Practice Specialist Doctor of Medicine.
After medical school Michael served five years in the US Navy including two tours in Vietnam. Michael’s patriotism ran deep. His military specialty was aviation medicine. As a Certified Navy Flight Surgeon, he was a man of honor who valued his freedom and loved his country.
With an honorable discharge from the US Navy in 1967, Michael entered residency training in Pathology at University of California attaining leadership as Chief Resident in 1971. After graduation he was appointed Surgical Pathologist and associate Clinical Pathologist at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles. After two years, Michael started his own business Surf Medical Center in Torrance, California closer to his beloved family home in Palos Verdes Estates.
Missing patient contact, Michael returned to training in the Drew Post Graduate Medical School at University Southern California. In 1977 he became a flourishing graduate in American Board of Family Practice.
1976 Michael returned to the beautiful Pacific Northwest transplanting his family of five to Lake Oswego, Oregon. 1978 he purchased Hillsdale Medical Clinic and once again practiced his specialty as a Family Practice Physician. His yearn for higher education was continual, completing a complex obstetrics fellowship at OHSU in 1983 while practicing family medicine.
A Patriot, Michael returned to active-duty, United States Army, in 1983. Serving his country 1989 in Active Duty USAR and again Germany Desert Storm Active Duty USAR 1990-1991. He had an Honorable Discharge in 1986.
Having a Critical Ethic of Care in Higher Education, Michael achieved Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support in 2001. Victoriously he managed prenatal obstetrical care through 2001 in Washington and Nevada Veterans Hospital.
Michael loved deeply, thought deeply and cared completely for all his loved ones. He was a loyal, honest man incessantly in search of the truth. Being a great Godly man, he was always desiring to be “his best self”. So perfectly loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A funeral service for Michael will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR 97229.
