Lila Myrill Frazier of Beaverton, Oregon passed away surrounded by her family on May 22 at age 94. She was born August 14, 1918 to Lillian (Heninger) and Clifford S. Richardson in Hazenmore, Saskatchewan, Canada. The family moved when she was a toddler to Clarkston, Washington, where she was raised. Myrill graduated from Clarkston High School and attended Whitworth College. Through her brothers Myrill met Charles H. Frazier at Whitworth. They were married March 18, 1939 and began their family which came to include three children.
Myrill and Charles lived in Kellogg, Idaho and Spokane, Washington before moving to Milwaukie, Oregon in 1957, where he was employed by the Portland YMCA. In the late 1960’s Charles joined the staff of the National YMCA. While with the National YMCA, Charles and Myrill spent many years living in various parts of the U.S. As exciting as this traveling was, Myrill eagerly looked forward to returning home in the summers to Beaverton and to her children and grandchildren. She and Charles were longtime members of the Presbyterian Church, and Myrill found great comfort in her friendship with the ladies of Valley Community Presbyterian Church.
To Myrill, the best times were those spent with her family, both immediate and extended. We have many fond memories of summer vacations and holidays spent with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. After Charles’ death in 1980, Myrill would have many “road trips” with her children to various parts of the Northwest and travel with friends to other parts of the world. She was also a member of PEO - Chapter C, volunteered at the Elsie Stuhr Center and was a member of several bridge groups.
Myrill was the consummate mother and homemaker. She loved gardening, cooking, taking care of her home, family get-togethers, playing scrabble and card games, crossword puzzles and watching the Trailblazers. She will be remembered as a sweet, gracious and elegant lady. She was a great friend and companion to her children and loved our trips to the beach, shopping, dining out and joining in on anything the family came up with. She was loved and respected by her entire family and will be greatly missed.
Myrill is survived by her daughters Charlene DeGidio of Chehalis, Washington and Susan Vandenburgh (Mike) of Tualatin; daughter-in-law Katie Frazier of Portland, sister Jeanette Pocklington of Hoquiam, Washington, and sister-in-law Janice Richardson of Bremerton, Washington. She was the very proud grandmother to Lori DeGidio (Mitch Clair), Lisa McKay (Tom), Lindy Waring (Gerald), Andy Frazier (Jessica), Carrie Crawford (George), Amy Vandenburgh and step-grandson Casey Vandenburgh (Cory). Myrill rejoiced in spending time with her twelve great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by ten nieces and nephews.
Myrill is predeceased by her husband Charles H. Frazier, son James P. Frazier; twin brothers Norman and Leonard Richardson, son-in-law Dr. Robert DeGidio and great-grandson Jacob McKay.
The family would like to thank the residents and staff of Creekside Retirement Village for the friendship they extended to Myrill, and the staff of the emergency room and CICU unit of St. Vincent’s Hospital for their wonderful care.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Valley Community Presbyterian Church, 8060 SW Brentwood Street, Portland, OR 97225; Mercy Corps; or Medical Teams International.
