Natalie Rosetta Lawrence, a beacon of love, wisdom, and resilience, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the remarkable age of 107, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born in New York in 1918, Natalie was the cherished daughter of Eva and beloved grandchild of Phoebe. Her life’s journey took her across the country, ultimately settling in Portland, Oregon, where she built a life with her devoted husband, Alfred Lawrence, whom she married in 1951.
Known for her unwavering faith, nurturing spirit, and boundless generosity, Natalie was a guiding light in her family and community. This devoted wife, loving mother, a proud grandmother, and great grandmother, created a home that was a sanctuary—always open, always welcoming, offering comfort, wisdom, and warmth to anyone in need.
A lifelong member of The House of Prayer, Natalie shared her deep faith with grace, ministering through testimony, prayer, and a ready ear. Her guiding scripture was always, “Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land.” In her later years, she often reminded us, “I am never alone, I am with my Father, the Lord.
A gifted piano and organ player, Natalie filled many churches and community spaces with joyful melodies, continuing to play for elder care residents into her 90s. Beyond her church, her passion for community service led her to actively serve as a member of Minister Wives, the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation, and the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW), dedicating her time and heart to causes she believed in.
Natalie is survived by her loving children, Lolita and Jonathan, her grandchildren, Nicole, Tamara, Amber, Jonathan Jr., and Makayla; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred; her mother, Eva; her grandmother, Phoebe; and many Lawrence family members.
Natalie’s enduring legacy of faith, compassion, and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though she has passed, her light lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
A private service will be held on Friday, August 8th at Finley Sunset Hills Mortuary.
