Norma was born in Springfield, Iowa, on November 23, 1938, to Blaine and Helen Warren, and went home to Jesus on April 29, 2025, after a long, well-fought medical battle, surrounded by those who loved her.
When Norma was one year of age, the family moved from Iowa to Kansas in the Olive Hill area.
Here is where she grew up and attended a one-room country school (Triumph) through eighth grade. When she was a teenager, she lived with her grandmother, Ada Warren, to attend high school in Superior, Nebraska, and graduated in 1956. This is the same school her parents graduated from in 1936 and 1938. While in high school, Norma worked her first job (which she had to walk to) at the Superior Farmer’s Union.
As a sophomore in high school, Norma met the love of her life, Roger Nunnenkamp.
The two were married in 1958. Their first son, Randall, was born shortly after in Superior. The family moved to Oregon in 1960, where Roger worked for the railroad. First SP&S, the BN, and later BNSF. In Oregon, two more sons were welcomed to the family. Douglas in 1960 and Blaine in 1962. The family made their way from Portland to Hillsboro in 1963.
Norma loved the Lord, having accepted him as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized in her preteen years. She loved her garden and enjoyed working as a baker, first for nine years at Hilhi, then Glencoe for 20 years. Roger and Norma both retired on the same day in 1999. They then traveled for many years, often taking grandchildren along with them to California, Arizona, Kansas, and Nebraska to visit all of their relatives. Norma was very active in the Washington County Fair, taking prizes in cooking, sewing, and quilting. She also helped her grandchildren to enter the fair and be crowned King or Queen of the Kitchen just like she had been. She also enjoyed going to the sand dunes with her family.
After residing in her home for 58 years, Norma moved to Jennings McCall in Forest Grove, where she quickly felt at home. Here she continued her quilting hobby, and spent numerous hours playing bingo, bunco, and cards with her friends that she loved so dearly.
Norma is survived by two sons Douglas (Crystal) Nunnenkamp, and Blaine (Laurie) Nunnenkamp, seven grandchildren: Kimberly, Jeremy (Melissa), Sara (Matt), Nichole (Anthony), Adam (Corissa), Carrie, and Grace; and ten great grandchildren: Ayianna, Jenessa, Logan, Trinity, Zoey, Penelope, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Oliver, and Theodore. Siblings, Nancy (George) Arnold, Wanda Mae, Woodrow Warren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Roger, son Randall, and parents, Blaine and Helen Warren.
