

Oris Wesby (Myles) was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 27, 1932 to her mother Mildred Crutchfield and her father Frank Myles. She was the fifth born of seven children to this union.
Oris, beloved mother to three children, at the age of 93 years, passed away on May 24, 2025 at 4:30am surrounded by her family, leaving a void no one can fill.
After the death of her mother, Oris and two of her siblings moved to Portland, Oregon and they lived with their oldest sister Etta and her husband.
She attended Cleveland High School. After graduating, she married Henry Wesby. From that union they had three children, Jo Yvonne (Wesby) Shaw, Perry Henry Wesby, and Janella Lynn (Wesby) Harper.
Oris was a homemaker taking care of her family, preparing wonderful meals, and baking cakes, pies, and cookies. She was also an excellent seamstress.
After her youngest child started 1st grade, she started working at Ford Industries in Portland. She worked there for a year and there she discovered that she enjoyed working with electronics. She then got a job at OECO, building small electronics for airplanes and transformers. She retired after 23 years of employment.
She became a member of the Sharon Seventh-day Adventist Church in Portland and was baptized in February 1952 by Elder A. Wellington Clark. In 1985, she was rebaptized under the leadership of Pastor Alphonso McCarthy at Sharon Seventh-day Adventist Church. Oris loved gardening at her home and had many beautiful flowers which she provided floral arrangements for many church services. Oris hosted and enjoyed many fellowship dinners at her home with church and family members.
Oris is preceded in death by her mother Mildred Crutchfield, father Frank Myles, sister Ollie Mae Myles, brother Henry Lee Myles, brother Frank Myles, Jr., brother Lavert Myles, and sister Etta M. Snells. She is survived by her sister Frankie Lee (Myles) Dansby, her brother-in-law Lorice Dansby, her daughter Jo Yvonne (Wesby) Shaw, son Perry Henry Wesby, and daughter Janella Lynn (Wesby) Harper, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
Our beloved Oris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
