Patrick Eugene Childs

Patrick Eugene Childs was born on March 23, 1969 in Portland, Oregon to Glen Davis Childs and Janet (Jan) Walker Childs. Legally blind from birth, he graduated from Madison High School in 1988. After a fall in 2006, he lived at Avamere Rehabilitation of Clackamas in Gladstone.

Patrick loved his family and caregivers, sports, music and cats. A livelong sports fan, he eagerly awaited the game – often games—to listen to each day. In spite of his world becoming smaller when he moved into Avamere, he made a point of finding out what sports interested his aides and their preferences in music so he could talk with them. As his vision diminished over the years, his hearing acuity increased and he recognized everyone by their voice.

Patrick was preceded in death by his father Glen, sister Katherine, uncle Harold and aunt Janet. He is survived by his mother Jan and sisters Charlene (Mark) and Laura (Chuck), step-mother Vivian and brothers Ben (Michelle) and Nick (Marjorie), uncle Ralph Walker, aunts Carolyn Stokke, Jacque Childs, Peggy Kornberg and Lynette (Malcolm) White and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 2036 SE Jefferson Street in Milwaukie, Oregon on Saturday, June 22 at 1:00 pm. In remembrance, those attending are encouraged to wear apparel from their favorite sports team.
