Patrick was born in Bremerton, Washington, and lived in Medford and Yakima before moving to Portland, Oregon after finishing school. On May 1, 1985, he married the love of his life. Together they built a life filled with adventure, laughter, and deep devotion.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Jane Hooper, his two sons, Robert Hooper and Nathan Hooper, and his sister, Janice Christ.
Patrick had a lifelong love of motorcycles, baseball and soccer, supporting the Giants, Mariners, Timbers, and Arsenal, and fine wine! He and his wife especially enjoyed traveling and exploring Mexico, creating many treasured memories together.
Patrick worked for over thirty-five years in the insurance industry. He spent the last twenty years of his career at Providence Health Plan. He was dedicated to the mission and core values of Providence and felt so blessed to be a part of the Providence Health Plan family.
He passed away peacefully at home at 3:03 a.m., surrounded by his family and cats, just a few hours after his 71st birthday—exactly as he wished.
Patrick was not a religious man, but in his final days he shared that he saw his mother, father, and sister waiting for him because they needed a fourth to play cards. He also told us he met Satan—and was waved right through. Even in his final moments, he chuckled and smiled, reminding us of his humor and spirit.
A very special thank you to his wife, Jane, who selflessly loved and cared for him at home until his last breath. In addition we would like to thank Providence Hospice.
Patrick’s spirit will live on through his family and in the kindness, humor, and laughter he shared so generously while he was here.
Patrick is also donating his brain to OHSU to further the fight against Lewy bodies. He additionally took part in the SHIMMER Phase 2 clinical trial for Lewy Body.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the causes Patrick cared about, including:
• ACLU
• Hilarity for Charity
• Lewy Body Dementia Research at OHSU
