He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was born in Portland, OR on December 14, 1948 to Paul and Leona Homlitas. Paul grew up on Springville Road in the West Hills. He is a graduate of Lincoln High School and Western States Chiropractic College. He married his high school sweetheart, Sandy Stevens on July 17, 1970. Paul and Sandy celebrated 44 beautiful years of marriage prior to her passing in 2014.
Paul opened his first chiropractic practice in 1975. He eventually changed careers, and in 1982 began working at Portland Community College (Sylvania Campus). He retired from the Chemistry department at PCC in 2013 after 31 years of service. Paul loved all aspects of the outdoors, especially hunting and camping and taking long road trips with his wife and children. Every family vacation involved being somewhere in the woods. He was also an avid classic car aficionado and spent many years rebuilding and restoring his beloved 1957 Chevy. When he wasn’t working on his Chevy, he could be found building model trains, taking in classic car shows, or enjoying one of his favorite western movies or television shows.
Paul’s outgoing, friendly, and always eager to help personality endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was loved by many and will be forever missed. His passing has left a void in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. He is survived by his children, Doug Homlitas (Misty), Carrie McCormick and Crystal Homlitas, his granddaughter Cheyenne McCormick, his in-laws, Dick and Betty Stevens, and his brother-in-law, Ron Stevens (Dianne). A service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Skyline Memorial Gardens. Please visit Paul’s memorial and guest book at: www.skylinememorialgardens.com.
